Hey, Chuck, isn't it amazing how it can go so badly? I especially resent it when it's an expensive breakfast. Funny thing is, the cheap ones are never bad. Note to self.

Glad it worked great on the honeymoon, though. That's the best. I have had the breakfast in the Four Seasons in Atlanta. That is great. Also the Ritz at Buckhead...stayed there for 100 nights or so once on a project with a major airline in town. ;-). Beuafort, hmm...I was in Charleston recently, and lived in SC (the Upstate though) for a few years. Might have try that one on a vacation. Especially now that the temps are cooling here in Philly.

I had an experience just like that recently here in Atlanta. Expensive breakfast, horrible service, and merely tolerable food.

On the other hand, for our honeymoon we were lucky enough to go from one great breakfast to another. I had the two greatest breakfasts of my life back to back, and as a big breakfast person, I loved it.

Four Seasons hotel Atlanta and the Rhett House Inn in Beaufort, South Carolina. Sorry I can't recommend something close to home, Frank...

Ugh. You are nicer than I would have been. I have gotten up and walked out of places like that. Sounds like this little town I went to in Colorado which was a nightmare.

Anon, yep, that's the way it should be. Coffee in that pot. I like that statement and that sentiment. More Little Pete's and less Tavern 17.

Albert, I don't know how I missed that 10th Street Pour House. That's definitely on my radar now! And yes, when they overcook it's a real problem. Back in my burger days I used to judge places on how they got medium rare right.

I can vouch for the 10th St Pour House too - right around the corner from where we live. Great food, nice little nook of a place.

I also like Mixto for brunch - sure as hell beats the wait at the uber popular brunch spots further south.

And the only time I send back food is when I explicitly ask for MEDIUM RARE and it comes back medium well. Gross. I hate it when I tell the server that it's overcooked and s/he replies by saying that they "don't do" medium rare. Why can't they say that to begin with?
