Obama at Friends Select

Barack Obama visited Friends Select in Philadelphia this morning before one of the most important speeches of his life. This is the Second Grade class that includes Charlie and Sarah’s twins, Lydia and Wiley. They’re on the left in the front row.

What to make out of this picture? Look at how Barack is down at the kids’ level. Look at how much he enjoys being there. Look at the face of America on the streets of Philadelphia. That’s what this election is about.

Mark, how about that? It wasn’t planned. How cool.

Moni, isn’t that something? The speech…wow. I know people will react, but I wish they’d watch it a few times. To really process it. He called it all out.

Obama… elegant man. He stopped because that group of second graders called out in unison “Hello Senator Obama.” He didn’t have to. He shook every hand. He looked them all in the eye. He made each one feel important. That’s a gift. I know two of those kids who will never forget those 10 minutes he spent with them.
