Bear With Me, I’m Testing a New Comment System

by Frank Roche on August 13, 2008

I think this new comment system will be cool, but right now I’m kinda worried that some comments look lost, the comment system seems upside-down, etc. Leave me a comment if you can on the Disqus system…let’s see if I can get this thing to work.

Testing this bad boy. C’mon, don’t screw this up.

Looks great so far.

That’s actually a great example of Disqus failing. I didn’t see your comment and just added another.

This is exactly what I’m afraid of. And guess what? It compromised my old comments, so now I’m super nervous. Ugh…let’s see…it ate some, and now it won’t reconfigure. Yikes. I will uninstall it by tomorrow if it doesn’t reconcile.

So how does this look?

That works…but I’m still bothered because the comment box is at the top. I told it to move…it’s misbehaving.

I just installed Disqus on my site (which, as you know, is seldom besmirched by outside commentary).

So far it's pretty cool, though I did find that I had to restart the import process several times to get all the comments in. Don't know if that's a Disqus or a WordPress issue.

Whatever the case, this was a really cool idea. Thanks for plugging it, Frank1

Howard, I must say I'm even happier with it now, especially when I find blogs that have it installed. Good for you. I didn't have a smooth start either…but after a couple of weeks I'm thinking of installing it on KnowHR. That's a big leap.

And I forgot to mention that I love the ability to rate comments up or down. That's pretty much useless on my site, but in general, I like judging other people's commentary, so…
;)
