Sleeping In

I don’t like to sleep in. I don’t know why that is. In general, I’m an early riser. And when I wake up, I like to get up. Get moving. Already this morning I’ve cleaned the litter box, taken Snickers the Wonder Dog on a walk in the drizzle, fed the animals, and sat down to read the newspaper. It’s a dark, gray morning here and not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse. (Snickers and Benny went back upstairs after they ate to go back to sleep. Benny, I’m sure, is under the down comforter with Sheryl, and Snickers is, I’m sure, stretched out on the bed. What a life.

I love it when it’s quiet like this. It’s easy like Sunday morning. I think I’ll take a nap later when everyone is up and moving.

  • Oh, I am the same way! Afternoon cat naps are far better than "sleeping in." I think it's like the difference between driving stick and automatic. Just like driving the car versus the car driving you, you can enjoy the serenity of the morning, feel like you have a jump on the day, and then decide when you're going to take five. It's kind of like having it all!
  • I love how you say that. It is true that I can get a jump on the day, then shut it down when I need to recharge my batteries. Plus, the quiet of the morning is so wonderful.
  • I envy being able to get up early on weekends. I have let myself sleep in the entire long weekend. Today I did not get up until 9:30. Still tired anyway and hope to take a nap later.
  • It's all good...this is just me and it works for me. I like sleeping of all varieties.
  • I am usually up at the crack of dawn .. love to get all of my chores out of the way as early as possible and then maybe read the paper. Of course, on a day like this, a mid afternoon nap is a must!
  • Hey, my brother...that's my favorite process. I missed my nap today...but the idea that I could have taken one is almost enough.
