My Daisy decided to take off into the woods at 2:30 AM one night. We don't usually take her out at that time, but it was an unusual night. She only goes out on a leash now. I drove around looking for her, scared to death. She came home through the neighbor's property after about 1/2 hour of freedom. The neighbor put a fence down the property line the next week.

Snickers looks a lot like Daisy, who is a lab mix. Glad she came back. Losing a dog is just an awful thing to contemplate.

I grew up in a bit more of a country setting (at least it was at the time), and the dogs we had when I was young wandered sometimes when they weren't chained and bound. They always came back, though.

While our house was only fifty or so feet from a main road, none of the dogs ever got hit -- well, not on the road, anyway. My dad did once accidentally nip one of the dogs in the driveway, but it wasn't serious.

The cats, on the other hand, would disappear for days sometimes, but I guess outdoor cats tend to be that way.

That's the scary part...I am amazed at how fast people drive in my neighborhood...it's a 25 mph limit, but I know people double that some times. I'm the crotchety old guy out there yelling at them...and mostly it's because I fear that Snickers will go in the road...well, I don't want to think about it.

You have to admit, it's cute that Judy goes to the girlfriend's house...that must get you a million points in karma. Just hope she stays on the sidewalks, too.

At first I thought Snickers was bad because she got on the couch.
That's my biggest fear with Judy is traffic. Climbed the fence one day and took off for girlfriends house/

That was really stressful. I mean, it was so odd. I'm glad she's back, too. Not everyone in our neighborhood follows the speed limits...and I just had visions of that.

I'm glad to be back posting as well. I've spent far too much time on Twitter. It's time to actually write again.
