Day Three at SXSW 2010

by Frank Roche on March 15, 2010

I saw an astronaut. (Two, actually.) And his world premier movie, Man on a Mission.

Richard Garriott is a local celeb, and a billionaire who made his money in video games, and now spends it doing incredible adventures. He paid $30 million to be a space tourist on the International Space Station. The documentary was about his preparation and voyage. In case I ever make a billion dollars, I can scratch “being an astronaut” off my list of things I want to do. That is some major league claustrophobia waiting to happen.

Here’s a shot of Richard Garriott.

And here’s a trailer for the movie:

What else? I walked some more. Lots more. Had dinner with the 1938 Media and IFRACTAL crews. Talked about business. And tech people. Enjoyed the 80-degree day. Got two more free t-shirts.

Today? Test driving a Corvette and a Camaro SS. Yes, Sheryl, it’s just a test drive. (Although I said I’d love to buy one and drive it back.)

I'm glad to hear that is only a test drive!
