Blog Action Day

by Frank Roche on August 20, 2007

I signed up for Blog Action Day and put a little panel down there on the lower right of this site. Here’s what it’s about:

What would happen if every blog published on the same topic on the same day? Blog Action Day aims to find out. On October 15 2007, bloggers around the world unite for one day to change the conversation. To find out more and get involved visit blogactionday.org.

The conversation this year is the environment. I’ll be there.

I think it would be better sometimes if we could leave our comfort zones of our computers and take to the streets for one day around a certain issue. Sometimes the blogs become so much chatter and background noise on the web. Sometimes I think we need a more human touch, to get out among each other and show our politicians that we are tired of the way they run things and that we don’t want the same spin, the same pat sound bites.

Pinky Bear, I agree. The cool thing about this initiative is that it let’s people take their own action…I wonder if this kind of blogstorm would be a great way to get people outside. My first protest was when I was 13, protesting against a nuclear power plant that was being built near us. It kinda worked…at least they had to talk to the community. I agree that we spend way too much time at home as part of the Pajama Mafia and not enough being visible. I know that you do your part…we should follow your lead.
