I’m 1394th, I’m 1394th!
LOL. Who would think it would be okay to cite a number like that? I’m chuckling because my new ranking just came from doing the the NYT Crossword online. I had a ranking before, but then something happened and I had to reinstall the crossword on my iPad, so my old scores got wiped out. I’ve been completing puzzles for 3 months since the new installation and they gave me my new ranking: 1394th out of 53,435 people who play. That means I’m in the top 3%…and I want to do better. A lot better.
Here’s that moment when doing something fun becomes a competition. And I’m not sure I’m pleased about that. But ever since I saw Wordplay, I’ve wanted to try my hand at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. It’s in March 2012, and I’m going to start getting ready for it. I’m not sure what I’ll have to do to prep, but I guess it means I’ll have to do more crossword puzzles. Learn to fill in “ewer” whenever they ask about pottery and “etui” when they ask about needle cases.
