A Pain in the Tooth

Ouch.

I woke up two days ago with a pain in my mouth.

The kind of pain that I couldn’t ignore.

My gums were swollen by my upper premolar (left side).

I picked at it.

(Always my first line of defense.)

I flossed.

I flossed again.

And again.

Then I brushed.

Furiously.

Nothing.

Guess what?

Popcorn shell stuck between my teeth and gums.

(Why do I hear that Skoal ad — just put a pinch between your teeth and gums?)

I spent an entire day fretting about the pain.

Poking my tongue at that popcorn kernel until my tongue bled.

Yesterday morning I mentioned my pain to Sheryl.

“Oh, we have one of those dentist’s picks upstairs.”

Two seconds and voila!

A popcorn shell the size of Nebraska came outta there.

Life’s like that…there’s something to “The right tool for the right job.”

And it’s all a lot better than a pain in the tooth.
