When 3 Cranky Moments Aren’t the Worst Thing to Happen on a Friday

I was cranky on Friday. But I perked up during the afternoon…right up until the time that my new computer wouldn’t boot up. It was acting flaky for days. The keyboard was working intermittently. It was hanging up. It was getting hot. And then…blam! Nothing.

I took my three-month-old MacBook Pro to the Genius Bar in King of Prussia on Saturday. Drive is dead. They were able to see a little of the data on there, but it’s bad news. Worse news? I haven’t backed up for a few weeks (even though we have more than a terabyte of storage available for me). That means client materials, accounting, and my entire life’s worth of data. Ugh.

So, I left that bad boy at the store. They had to order a new drive, keyboard, motherboard, and to major connecting cables. Basically, when it’s refurbished all I’ll get back from the original is the shell and video monitor. And I’m not sure when it’s coming back.

I failed to recognize how tied in I am to my laptop. I felt like I had to leave a small child behind at the Apple store. (BTW: Did you know they’re going to renovate that store from Nov. 1 -10? Like gut it. It’s gorgeous inside, but they are going to go with the new branding. Buy Apple stock, my friends. If they can afford to shut down one of the most profitable Apple retail stores in all of Appledom in one of the most expensive malls in all of Malldom, then they are making some scratch.) I’m writing from Sheryl’s iMac at home…and thinking I will give up being Cranky Frankie on Fridays. Karma is a bitch. So’s not backing up for weeks.
