Breakfast with the World’s Best Mayor

by Frank Roche on January 25, 2008

Mayor Nutter

See that guy there eating breakfast at Little Pete’s? That the world’s best mayor, Michael Nutter of Philadelphia. And although it’s a stretch to say I “ate breakfast with the world’s best mayor,” it’s true that I was in the same restaurant this morning and had breakfast one table over.

I feel really good about Mr. Nutter being our mayor. He’s going to make Philadelphia be a city to really be proud of. Know what else? He eats at Little Pete’s, which is down home Philly. I like that.

No junk food for this man…it was oatmeal and coffee. He’s in good shape…I’m sure it’s not from eating scrapple and sausage. ;-)

Someday, Frank, you’ll understand why I like this guy so much…any man who is tall, bald and named “Mike” is OK in my book.

Pinky Bear…I’m a Mayoral Fanboy, I guess. I just get such a good vibe about what he’s going to do.

Pax, could this be the year that the Pax Family Singers has a little reunion in Center City? Maybe at a Sound of Music singalong? I’d like that.

I once passed Mayor Daley on the street. I considered stopping him and saying hi but I was not sure how the 4 bodyguards would have interpreted my intentions.

I can not imagine Richard M. having breakfast in a place like Little Pete’s without a small army.

Rick, it’s funny. I can’t imagine that either. But Philadelphia is a different kind of city. You see people. The go to the same places that regular people go to. It’s what people call “Solid.” And Mayor Nutter is definitely that. Did you see that video I posted of him at his inaugural? It’s why I say he’s the world’s best mayor.
