The Tuna

My buddy Rich Mennenoh has had a great nickname for 30+ years. It was back in the old Chicago mobster days, when everyone who was getting arrested had great nicknames. We laughed about that, and because of his Italian heritage on his mother’s side, we started calling him by a nickname: The Tuna. (In Chicago, that’s pronounced Da Too-nuh.) It stuck. I love great nicknames.

Fast forward to this morning. I laughed when I saw there was a mob sweep of the boys with the greatest nicknames in all of Philadelphia Mafiosi:.

Mob Monikers
Vincent “Elmo” Amarante

Thomas “Tommy Sneakers” Cacciopoli

Domenico “The Greaseball” Cefalu

John “Jackie the Nose” D’Amico

Vincent “Vinnie Hot” Decongilio

Joseph “Joe Gag” Gaggi

John “Johnny Red Rose” Pisano

Richard “Fat Richie” Ranieri

Michael “Mike the Electrician” Urciuoli

Man, I need a cool nickname.
